Successful Web Promotions

Post by blondey82 » Sun May 02, 2010 2:24 pm

Our OM wants our station to put together a web promotion to draw more website traffic. We're thinking about doing a contest that you can enter once a day. Just wanted to see if anyone had any GREAT SUCCESSFUL web promos that they've done with their stations.

When promoting your website, make sure you have unique content on it. The reason why you need to have unique content is the existence of the Reverse Sandbox Effect. Sandbox refers to the fact that Google reduces the ranking of new domain names in an attempt to control the use of abused techniques to get high ranking. Reverse Sandbox refers to the fact that Google sometimes give new domain names high ranking if they have unique content even though they do not have many back-links.

Back-links are links back to a website posted on another website. The search engine determines websites ranking by the number of back-links it has. So if you do not have many back-links you won’t get good ranking. And since it is hard to get back-links fast when you are starting up, the only way to get high ranking is to take advantage of the existence of Reverse Sandbox and have unique content on your website. Then Google will give you high ranks and this means huge free web traffic, which is what you are looking for.

We constantly keep "website only" promotions going thru our station.....and they usually all drive pretty good traffic; however, the better the prize, the better the traffic. Don't forget to mention your contest and your site on your station frequently, too.....plus, make sure your site is ready for the traffic by having other things for your listeners to do there.......Visit http://www.thundercountry963.com to get an idea of our current promotions and please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you need ideas or have questions! We are currently giving away tickets to the Grand Ole Opry's 85th Birthday Bash and Free Gas at a local merchant on Friday.
