All News 102, in beautiful Virginia Beach, Virginia (Market #45) is looking for a high energy, news leader and professional who is also open to innovation and new ways of presenting content and listener experience.

Local Voice Media is building the new, all-news format, using much of the success of other all-news stations, but also making the model work in markets other than the Top 15 by using technology and proprietary tools.

We are building the new, new thing - so if you economic needs are based on some of the great jobs you have previously held, this opening is likely not for you.

You will also work your tail off, and be expected to lead, not only as a manager, but also by pitching in and working hard at even the basic level of writing, reading and being on the air.

All News 102 is looking for a strong leader to take our newsroom to the next level.
All-News 102 is the newest edition of Virginia’s localized media environment created by Local Voice Media’s collection of dynamic editorial, radio and digital specialists.
All-News 102 brings a non-editorial all-news companion to the listeners in Hampton Roads without talk show hosts or bias
The News Director will lead and manages the planning, production and presentation of news. You will supervise the news department staff and work in cooperation with station leadership and staff to support the station mission.
You will have the responsibility and understanding of news planning, reporting, editing and production. The role requires you to define and maintain ethical, editorial, artistic and technical standards for broadcast news programs. The news director assists with news programming decisions and news operations.
Duties
Direct news staff to develop story ideas, track issues and events, select stories for coverage, schedule stories for publication, and schedule time for interviewing, writing and editing.
Serve as a primary editor to ensure news reports are produced in an effective, timely and responsible manner.
Act as a proactive liaison to various internal and external constituencies to advance the station’s news programming. These may include the station programming and operations and development staffs.
Contributes content on a regular basis.
Anchor newscasts (when needed)
Set goals and monitor performance of news personnel
Adhere to deadlines and makes timely and effective decisions in situations requiring prompt attention

Qualifications
Minimum of three years of full-time professional experience in journalism — preferably in a multi-platform news environment. Familiarity with news programming. The successful candidate will possess a broad knowledge of local and regional issues. Must have the ability to work within a live program environment. Must have experience in broadcast production, web content, news writing and news editing. Must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred skills include on-line research, multimedia production, word and spreadsheet processing and operation of light office equipment. Must be able to meet daily deadlines under potentially stressful conditions and deal effectively with multiple competing tasks.
