Please outline your radio career so far:
WCIR (Aug. 1998 - Oct. 2001), WXLK (July 2001 - Oct. 2001), WHAJ (July 2003 - Nov. 2003), WQSM (Nov. 2003 - Current)
1) What was your first job in radio? Early influences?
I started at WCIR in Beckley, WV. I lied about needing to intern at a radio station so they would let me though the door (Sorry Kathy). Eventually that turned into a part time board-op spot and two years later, I was PD.
2) What led you to a career in radio? Was there a defining moment, which made you realize "this is it"?
Growing up I would take two boom boxes and play CD's back and forth talking in-between the two. In College I was on the radio station and people kept coming by and saying, "You're good", I was like, "Yeah, This is it"
3) What career path would you be following had it not been for this industry?
I was looking to become an FBI Agent - then I said "People actually shoot at you?"

We try to stay "At-Work friendly," without becoming a snooze fest.

James Blunt - "Beautiful," Coldplay "Fix You," and "Home" by Michael Buble'
8) How is the relationship between programmer and record label changing? For better or worse?
FOR WORSE!!!!! With all the hoops that you have to crawl through to get a box of CD's to giveaway. It's the same old story of one bad apple ruins it for the whole bunch.
9) How do you feel terrestrial radio competes with the satellite radio and Internet these days?
You talk to people that have satellite radio and they love it, Well I would say that too if I spent $200 and $20 a month for something that I can get for FREE!!!!!
10) How do you stay in tune with your audience?
Reading a lot of women Magazine's - "White is actually in after Labor Day" - Who would have thought?
Bonus Questions
Do you have any good stalker stories? Misty requests? "Fatal Attractions?"
Woke up one day to a Stalker running her fingers through my hair, Apparently my roommate had let her in, I talked to her calmly for a couple of minutes and calmly walked her to the door. Then chewed out the roommate, even though he thought it was some girl I was dating.
How often do you aircheck and what is your approach?
Once a week - Let's talk about the good stuff, the bad stuff, then the good stuff again.
You're stuck on a deserted island and you only have 5 CDs with you. What are they?
Jimmy Buffett "Song's You know by heart;" Maroon 5 "Song's About Jane," Pat McGee Band "From the Wood," Sister Hazel "Live-Live," and Dave Matthews Band "Crash."
What other stations and markets do you like to keep track of?
Roanoke - Great battle between JJS and K92!!!!!
How much music do you listen to each week?
Every damn song, I actually find a lot of music that I like, but I know will never make it as a hit.
