Goo Goo Dolls
Jul 19, 2010
Warner Bros. Records announced today that Buffalo's Goo Goo Dolls will release a new studio album, to be titled "Something For the Rest Of Us," on August 31th.
The first single from the forthcoming album, "Home," is available for purchase and download via iTunes and other digital retail outlets beginning today.
"Something For the Rest Of Us" is the band's follow-up to the 2006 effort "Let Love In," a collection which marked the Goos' 20th anniversary, and spawned three Top 10 singles in the form of the title track, "Better Days" and "Stay With You."
For the new recording, John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin teamed with producers Tim Palmer (David Bowie, Pearl Jam, U2), Butch Vig (Nirvana, Green Day, Foo Fighters) and John Fields (Paul Westerberg, Jimmy Eat World). Additional production was handled by the band's members.
According to a press release, lyricist Rzeznik wanted the thematic material on the forthcoming album to "address the disillusionment of the difficult period we live in; I wanted to give a voice to the emotional uncertainty that accompanies hard times."
The Goo Goo Dolls kicked off a summer tour last week in Saratoga, Calif. The tour includes a stop at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center on July 23th.
