Halsey was born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane in Edison, NJ on 9/29/1994.
She became interested in music at a young age, began playing acoustic guitar and writing songs as a teen. By 2012 she was uploading her music to social media. Labels soon took notice and in 2014 she signed her first contract. Her debut EP Room 93, was released that year.
Her debut album, Badlands, arrived in 2015 and was certified Platinum within a year. Two of the album's singles, "New Americana" and "Colors," received Pop airplay. That year, she was featured on "This Feeling," a track from singer Justin Bieber's album, Purpose. She also partnered with MAC Cosmetics and released a lipstick named after herself.
In 2016, she was featured on "Closer," a song she had co-written with The Chainsmokers, which became a huge success - selling more than 15 million units worldwide. The song earned her a Grammy nomination.
Halsey's second album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, was released in June 2017. It reached #1 on the Album Chart and featured the singles "Now Or Never," "Alone," and "Bad At Love," a Top 5 Pop song. At the end of 2017, a duet with (then-boyfriend) G-Eazy "Him & I," was released and topped the Pop airplay charts the following March. Another collaboration, this time with Benny Blanco and Khalid, resulted in her next #1, "Eastside."
Her third album, Manic, was preceded by the #1 single "Without Me," which would go onto replace "Eastside" at the top of the Pop airplay chart in early 2019. Other tracks were released as well, including "Graveyard," which became a Top 10 Pop airplay single, and "You Should Be Sad" which was released a week before the album's debut on January 17, 2020.
Halsey made her film debut as the voice of Wonder Woman in "Teen Titans GO!" an animated film released in 2018. She also had a cameo in the film "A Star Is Born." She opened the 2020 season of Saturday Night Live as musical guest.
A passionate supporter of women's rights, mental health and the LGBTQ community, Halsey was honored in 2018 by GLADD as "Outstanding Music Artist."
The North American leg of Halsey's Manic World Tour arrives in Seattle on 6/2, continuing through 8/1 in Irvine, CA
