Ke$ha
Oct 1, 2012
Kesha is an American singer-songwriter and rapper. In 2005, at age 18, she was signed to producer Dr. Luke's record label, Kemosabe Entertainment, and publishing company. Although she was an active musician since then, up until 2009, she was singing background vocals and writing songs for other artists. In 2009, her breakthrough came after appearing on rapper Flo Rida's number-one single, "Right Round." Her debut album, Animal and her first extended play, Cannibal, were released in 2010. Kesha's irreverent music and image propelled her to immediate commercial success, with Animal debuting as the number-one album in the US. She also achieved two number-one singles, "Tik Tok" and "We R Who We R", and a string of top ten hits from the album and its re-release. At the same time, she continued to write songs for other artists, including "Till the World Ends" for pop singer Britney Spears. Her second studio album, Warrior, will be released this Winter on December 4th, with "Die Young" preceding the album as the lead single on September 25th.
"Die Young" is a party anthem that declares, "Let's make the most of the night like we're going to die young." The hedonistic pop star packs fiery flair into her raging rally cries, delivering inspiring messages: "Don't care who's watching when we tearin' it up." It's the Ke$ha we know and love. Party on. The verses of the song contain big electronic breaks, and heavy drums, before the chorus "stomps" and "claps" and features virtually no drums. The track is said to draw from electronic rock and pop-rock genres. Co-producer Benny Blanco described the track as "old hippie rock." Leading up to the release, Ke$ha has released two promotional videos on her personal YouTube page under the title "Tokyo 2012" and "Tokyo 2012. Part 2.
