Indie pop based Caifornian band, Youngblood Hawke has seen much success with their eponymous 2012 single, "We Come Running," which features the West Los Angeles Children's Choir during the chorus. The song has received airplay nationwid and has been described as "anthemic" and having a "youthful spirit." The album itself has charted in Billboard's Top 200 albums for the week of September 1st 2012, and #3 on the Heatseekers Albums chart for the same week. For the week of August 20th 2012, "We Come Running" was slated as the "Single of the Week!" by iTunes.
"We wrote the song 'We Come Running' to lift us up. It was a personal anthem for the band. It was written during the early stages, when we were all working terrible jobs that left us drained and uninspired," the band tells Rolling Stone. "All we wanted to do was create music and, at that time, that dream felt galaxies away. The song served as a reminder to always follow your passion. Do what makes you happy and keeps you fulfilled, no matter what."
Both Simon Katz and Sam Martin were in the band Iglu & Hartly, but after a 2011 hiatus, the two reformed with three of their long-time friends to form the band that is now Youngblood Hawke. Their name comes from the Herman Wouk novel of the same name. In October 2011 before landing a record deal with Universal Republic, Youngblood had a residency at The Satellite in Los Angeles. Aside from that, the group has performed at SXSW, playing showcases such as Comedy Central Workaholics showcase and Purevolume Hous
Youngblood Hawke just wrapped up touring as the opening band for the British band Keane's Strangeland Tour.
