On February 12th, American rock band Goo Goo Dolls released the first single off their next studio album entitled "Rebel Beat". The song premiered on several US radio stations on January 18th. The album will be called Magnetic and is schedule to be released on May 7th via Warner Brothers.
"I'm so proud of our new album," says John Rzeznik. I've had such a great time and learned so much from the amazingly talented people who worked on it with me." He continues, "I think that positive energy comes across on the songs. Writing and recording Magnetic changed my thinking about making music and doing it in a fun way."
Originally from New York and formed in 1986, Goo Goo Dolls members include guitarist and vocalist John Rzeznik, bassist and vocalist Robby Takac and drummer Mike Malinin. They are most known for their successful 1998 hit song "Iris". In October 2012, it was ranked #1 on Billboard's "Top 100 Pop Songs 1992-2012" chart. Taken from the City of Angels soundtrack, "Iris" spent nearly spent nearly 12 straight months on the Billboard charts and held the number one position on the Hot 100 Airplay chart for 18 weeks. Other notable and popular singles include"Name" from 1995's A Boy Named Goo, "Broadway", "Black Balloon" and "Slide" from 1998's Dizzy Up The Girl, an album which produced five successful singles, and "Here Is Gone", "Sympathy" and "Big Machine" from 2002's Gutterflower. The Goo Goo Dolls have had 14 top ten singles on various charts, and have sold more than ten million albums worldwide.
Lead singer, Rzeznik is currently on a promotion tour for "Rebel Beat," while tour plans to support Magnetic are currently being considered. Rzeznik says the group has "a really good offer" for a summer package he can't yet reveal, but in one way or another he says they will be playing live during the spring, summer and probably beyond. "That's us; we just slog it out there on the road until we've wrung out every city we can get to. We always stay out on the road."
