Pop singer, Colbie Caillat and entertainment journalist Mark Steines will appear at the "Artworks For The Cure," a three-day event in Santa Monica, Calif., dedicated to fighting the good fight against cancer. It runs from October 11th to the 13th. Steines, who has interviewed hundreds of musicians, actors, producers and athletes, will host the event's "Spirit Of Excellence Awards" honoring Spotify's Daniel Ek, Rob Wells from the Universal Music Group, Atom Factory's Troy Carter and Catherine An of House Of An-Crustacean and Tiato Restaurants and An Catering. Open to the public and taking place at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, the event gives you the chance to rub shoulders with the rich and/or famous. It begins with the Meet The Artists reception October 11th followed by the Spirit Of Excellence Awards dinner on October 12th with Ms. Caillat performing as well. But it doesn't stop with the awards because October 13th is filled with arts, music, wine, beer and gourmet food trucks. Presented by American Airlines and the Universal Music Group with a sponsor list including Accenture, Code Advisors, Live Nation, Mediacom, Microsoft, Spinlet and the Wasserman Foundation, the Artworks For The Cure benefits the T.J. Martell Foundation's efforts to fund innovative cancer research at 12 research hospitals across the U.S., including pediatric cancer research at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Colbie Caillat debuted in 2007 with her album, Coco, which included hit singles "Bubbly" and "Realize". In 2008, she recorded a duet with Jason Mraz, entitled, "Lucky", which won a Grammy. Caillat released her second album, Breakthrough, in 2009 and it was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards. She was also part of the group that won Album of the Year at the 2010 Grammys for her background vocals and writing on Taylor Swift's Fearless album. Caillat has sold over six million albums worldwide and sold over 10 million singles. In 2009, she was named Billboard magazine's 94th-best-selling music artist of the 2000-2009 decade. In 2011, she released her third studio album, All of You.
