ZZ Ward
Mar 16, 2014
The singer-songwriter, ZZ Ward's latest single out is "Last Love Song". It's taken from her debut album, Til The Casket Drops via Hollywood Records. The song starts beautifully using primarily guitar and piano with violin and drums chiming in as it carries on. It shows a softer side of ZZ Ward and has more of a pop quality to the sound. The album as a whole has a lot of soul and influences from blues legends such as Muddy Waters and Big Mama Thornton.
When ZZ Ward moved to Los Angeles, she signed to E. Kidd Bogart's Boardwalk Entertainment Group, after which she began work on her debut album, which included work with Kendrick Lamar, Ryan Tedder, Pete Rock, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Theron "Neff-U" Feemster and Fitz of Fitz and the Tantrums. While making the Criminal EP, Ward also began work on Eleven Roses, a free mix-tape on which she offered her interpretations of recent tracks by Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino and Tyler, the Creator. It was finally released in 2012, and features the songs "Til the Casket Drops" (featured in the TV promo campaign for the 3rd season of ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars), "Put the Gun Down", "Move Like U Stole It" (featured in the Season 2 finale of MTV's Awkward), and "Criminal" (feat. Freddie Gibbs).
