Most recently, the R&B singer-songwriter, Alicia Keys, collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on the song "It's On Again" for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Soundtrack. It was written by Pharrell Williams, Keys, K-Dot and film scorer Hans Zimmer. The film was released on May 2nd.
"I'm very excited to be a part of such a powerful collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and Hans Zimmer," Alicia Keys said in a statement about the album, which was released on April 22nd. "This is the next chapter in the 'Spider-Man' legacy and we really feel 'It's On Again' captures the experience, the story - and most importantly - the meaning behind the film, which is that we all have the potential to be extraordinary. There's a little bit of a super hero in all of us."
Alicia Keys' debut album, Songs in A Minor, sold over 12 million copies worldwide. The album went on to earn her five Grammy Awards in 2002, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for "Fallin'" becoming the second American recording artist to win five Grammys in one night. Her second studio album, The Diary of Alicia Keys, was released in 2003 and was also another success worldwide, selling eight million copies. The album garnered her an additional four Grammy Awards in 2005. Her third studio album, As I Am, sold five million copies worldwide, earning Keys an additional three Grammy Awards. Her fourth album, The Element of Freedom, released in 2009, became Keys' first chart-topping album in the United Kingdom. Her fifth album, Girl on Fire, came out in November 2012, which became Keys' fifth chart-topping album in the US.
