John Mayer's latest love song release is borrowed from the pop superstar, Beyoncé. And instead of the soaring sounds and flashing Coney Island lights on her original "XO," Mayer incorporates his harmonica and acoustic simplicity. The guitarist subtly riffs and covers the pleading lyrics: "Kiss me, kiss me before they turn the lights out."
John Mayer's first two studio album's, Room for Squares (2001) and Heavier Things (2003), did well commercially, achieving multi-platinum status. In 2003, he won a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Your Body Is a Wonderland." His third album, Continiuum was released in September 2006 which earned him a Grammy for the single "Waiting on the World to Change" found on that album. He released his fourth studio album, Battle Studies, in 2009. His fifth album, Born and Raised, which saw another musical style shift, was released in 2012, followed by his sixth album Paradise Valley in August 2013. So far, he has sold over ten million albums in the U.S. and over 20 million albums worldwide.
