It's 2010. Why do we still present like it's 1985?
I spend a lot of time working on how we present our stations. Here are a few tips to make your presentations better.
- Make it interactive. Gain attention, then channel to build engagement and get the audience actively involved
- Render complex information in a simple story-telling way
- Understand the needs and interests of the audience through meaningful conversation
- Dynamically change the flow and content of the presentation to suit the audience requirements.
If there is one KEY point, it's "Make It Interactive." A former rep of mine puts fun, little contests about her station or the client's business in her presentations and brings little prizes for those who get correct answers. Sure, maybe a little cheesy, but it's her style and she makes it fun and I would certainly call that interactive.
