Radio community service efforts marketed back to the advertisers quarterly will make a difference with Millennials as well as the post-Boomer generation at the same time.
Tom's shoes built a big business on the idea of donating a pair of their hip shoes for a worthy cause. Most radio stations contribute way more to the communities they serve than advertisers are aware of. No one is going to buy you simply because your radio team gives back to the community, but at some point it dawns on all of us that those who can do a good job at their work, provide for their family and give back to the community are the ones that we should all be looking to support, with everything else being close to equal! Advertisers are people, too. Everything that works on endearing a person to another works for a radio station to advertisers.
