Hidden New Definition Of Winning In Programming?
Today, winning programming literally starts with an ability to stop folks above you from desperately pushing to add commercials to an already overloaded commercial load in radio! If you stop that ... you win.
If you are a PD and you let your bosses add commercials vs. jumping in to assist in other ways to generate revenue, you are not what we need in radio programming today. Figure out how to add revenue off the air. Do not be the chef who actually adds arsenic to the meal just to be liked by the higher-ups! Do what is right in a professional and polite, respectable manner. Those who do not add commercials over the next year win big. Brooke and Jubel have the luxury of carrying the lightest 7a hour commercial because their owner, Hubbard, understands and their backs are not against the wall...
Is it possible that winning in morning drive radio today is primarily the show with the most corporate support from a company without crushing debt?
