Married And Work Together At A Radio Station?
The radio business before deeper consolidation was one that was populated with many folks who were married and worked at the same radio stations. Today in the post-consolidation world, that "married and work together at the radio station" is all but gone for many unstated reasons. One key reason is that in a consolidating industry, staffs are continuously being reduced and as such, not a fun-loving place that fosters lots of marriages and feelings of stability among folks who are in touch with the vibe in the buildings these days.
There is no law that states that folks who are married cannot work together but in the end, it is not a winning strategy today at the big radio corporations deep in consolidation environments due to debt.
If you are holdover who was married and worked with your spouse at a radio station before the debt, best of luck as an "uphill outlier" in today's corporate radio environment of consolidation. If we ever see the trend of folks getting married at stations return, it will be the result of an environment that emerged whereby stability appears certain and the negatives of continued consolidation evaporated for a positive vibe conducive to marriages among the staff, like there was in the early '90s pre-telecom dereg.
