TikTok Is More Than Buzz

TikTok is the best marketing platform to utilize and grow a brand. Here’s Why:
Unlike Twitter, YouTube, and other social media, each TikTok video is treated equally. Yes, the more followers you have, the more likely your videos will do well, but that’s not the only way to see success and grow your brand presence on TikTok.
TikTok LOVES viral content, and no algorithm is perfect, but theirs does a very good job at feeding the content to those it believes will engage with the content.
Here’s How
Ever notice that some of your TikTok videos stop at around 200-300 views?
That’s because TikTok pushes videos out in what I’ll call “batches,” the first batch is to about 200-300 people to see how people interact with your content.
Then, if it does well, it is sent to the next batch of 1,000-3,000 people. And so on and so on, until it either stops feeding it to new viewers or is a viral success and continues to feed to as many as possible.
There are 3 main categories that TikTok uses to determine if your video is worth making it to the next batch:
- View Duration - This is the most important analytic TikTok uses to determine the success of a video. If there is one metric, I suggest you or your team should focus on it is view duration and how to get them to watch MORE than 100% (a.k.a. Rewatching the video)
- Follows and Shares - These are the next biggest metrics to view. Follows and Shares let TikTok know the potential for virality your content has and will rank that video higher to be shown to the next batch of viewers
- Other Engagements - Likes, Comments, and Profile Views are great to see, and yes, they do help but should be the lowest priority.
Tips For TikTok:
- What is your niche? - There is no such thing as a successful “general” TikTok account. You must be known for something.
- You have 3-seconds (sometimes less) to hook someone.
- Build up anticipation - Is there something funny that happened to you that you got on camera? Write at the very beginning something that will make the viewer want to wait for the payoff at the end such as “Wait for it…” Don’t be afraid to use laughing emojis too.
- Quick Cuts - Do something that causes the viewer to have to rewatch because they missed it the first time. Perhaps it’s a caption that flashes for a moment, or something unexpected happened. Make the viewer want to say “Wait...What?”
- Content needs a payoff.
- Trending music, effects, challenges, and hashtags help but only do them if it fits your voice.
- Build repeatable content - Okay, so you have a viral video. Great! Congratulations! But… can you repeat that? Your answer should always be YES! The best creators build series that grow the audience over time with content they know their viewers will enjoy. If you can’t repeat it, find something relatable to the viral content that you made.
The best example is when people find rescue animals and the initial video goes viral on how they found the animal. Then, they continue to release content checking up on the animal and how they are doing.
@Bruontheradio built a 3.4 million viewer audience by asking people in the office a word to say on-air, quick cut to him having to find a way to use it. Then after he built the audience, the audience would suggest words to use.

♬ original sound - Bru - Bad Quality makes bad TikToks. You don’t need your video and audio to be polished, BUT you do need it to be clear.
- Hashtags won’t make or break you, but make sure to use specific hashtags to your content and brand (and if there are trending hashtags in your niche, use those too).
