MIKE "DOC" EMRICK will be inducted into the U.S. HOCKEY HALL OF FAME at a ceremony in CHICAGO on MONDAY (12/12), the first media member to be so honored.
Best known as the longtime lead play-by-play voice of the NEW JERSEY DEVILS and national NHL coverage on FOX, ESPN, ABC, and, most recently, NBC and VERSUS, EMRICK started his career in 1973 as the radio voice and public relations director of the minor league PORT HURON FLAGS, then called MAINE MARINERS games before moving up to the NHL with the PHILADELPHIA FLYERS. He has also been on the broadcast teams for several OLYMPICS telecasts and won the FOSTER HEWITT Memorial Award from the HOCKEY HALL OF FAME in TORONTO in 2008.
The U.S. HOCKEY HALL OF FAME is located in EVELETH, MN. This year's class includes CHRIS CHELIOS, GARY SUTER, KEITH TKACHUK, and FLYERS owner ED SNIDER.
