Counry star JAKE OWEN had to cancel his charity concert SATURDAY night (12/10) in his hometown of VERO BEACH, FL due to heavy rains. The concert, held as part of "MARDY's Tennis and JAKE's Music Fest," an event co-hosted by his high school friend and tennis star MARDY FISH, was to benefit ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S RESEARCH HOSPITAL, but the weather did not cooperate. The venue, HOLMAN STADIUM, the former Spring Training home of the LOS ANGELES DODGERS, is an open-air facility with no shelter from the elements. The concert will be rescheduled for a later date, and the 5,000 tickets sold will be honored for the new date.
OWEN said, "Everyone always works so hard putting this event together. The situation was out of our control and it was so disappointing when we couldn't perform at the stadium, but the concert is just one part of the weekend's events. We still raised money for a really great cause and the show will definitely be rescheduled."
While he couldn't hold the full concert, OWEN, along with label mate CHRIS YOUNG, dropped by the RIVERSIDE CAFE for an impromptu concert that night.
