ATLANTA's cold snap this weekend wasn't enough to stop CUMULUS Top 40 WWWQ (Q100) morning man BERT WEISS and other ATLANTA "Speedo Run" participants from stripping down to their too-skimpy swimsuits or underwear and running 1.5 miles to raise money for "BERT'S BIG ADVENTURE," WEISS' charity to help send children with chronic or terminal illnesses on trips to DISNEY WORLD. WEISS, host of "THE BERT SHOW," ran incognito wearing an Orthodox Jewish hat and tallit, sunglasses and a fake beard along with a brief pair of black briefs.
BERT and company raised $125,000 for the cause, with 250 runners taking part, including WEISS' wife STACEY and the entire staff making the run on roller skates. The run is based on a similar event originating in BOSTON.
"This was probably one of the most exciting fundraisers that we have ever been involved in. The runners went above and beyond helping raise a huge amount of money for a small organization like BERT'S BIG ADVENTURE and we are so appreciative of the gift," said WEISS.
