Shocker! ALL ACCESS has confirmed that SONY/NASHVILLE SVP/Promotion SKIP BISHOP has left the building after nearly seven years in the post. BISHOP had oversight on all of the SONY/NASHVILLE labels, including RCA, ARISTA, and the recently-combined BNA/COLUMBIA label. During SKIP's run there were 41 songs that went #1 at the SONY/NASHVILLE labels.
BISHOP was brought in by mentor BUTCH WAUGH as VP/Promotion at ARISTA/NASHVILLE after running his own independent promotion firm BISHOP BAIT & TACKLE, as well as previously serving as SVP/Promotion for MCA based in LOS ANGELES and VP/Promotion for RCA in NEW YORK.
No other details yet as to who takes over for SKIP, or what SKIP's plans are for 2012. Reach SKIP at (615) 293-6933 or at popcat@aol.com.
