MEDIABASE has once again compiled the most extensive report on the total spins during a 12-month period that ran from late NOVEMBER last year to NOVEMBER 2011. The exact date range was from 11/21/10 thru 11/19/11.
By Format:
Top 40: PITBULL landed the #1 song for the year at Top 40 radio with "Give Me Everything," featuring NE-YO. KATY PERRY had a slew of multi-format hits and was the #1 artist for the year at Top 40 and Hot AC thanks to hits including "Firework," "E.T.," and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"
AC: GRAMMY nominee ADELE scored the top song at Hot AC and Triple A with "Rolling In The Deep." BRUNO MARS had the top song at AC with "Just The Way You Are" and landed as the #2 artist at Hot AC and #3 artist at Top 40 with a plethora of hits including "Grenade" and "Lazy Song."
Rhythmic: RIHANNA also had a huge year scoring the #1 artist position at Rhythmic radio.
Urban: A big comeback for KELLY ROWLAND -- who wound up #1 at Urban with her song "Motivation," featuring LIL WAYNE. CASH MONEY/UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC RECORDS had a huge year with the likes of LIL WAYNE, NICKI MINAJ, and DRAKE to name a few.
Country: Newcomers THOMPSON SQUARE landed the #1 song at Country radio with "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not," while JASON ALDEAN was the most played Country artist.
Rock: At rock radio, we saw big years for STONE SOUR, FOSTER THE PEOPLE, MUMFORD & SONS, and AVENGED SEVENFOLD.
