After 44 hours of listening to WILLIAM HUNG, a rap-off contest, a sing-off contest and sitting in the TEXAS heat with an open can of sardines, 64 year-old ELMINA was crowned the "Idle For Idol" winner.
The goal was to be the last person “idling” to win a trip the AMERICAN IDOL finals. Elimination rounds included challenges such as a writing contest where contestants had 30 minutes to write an essay on why he or she should go to the finals. They then had 30 seconds to read their story on air. The morning show took listener phone calls to pick the two finalists, with a round of Idol trivia deciding the winner.
