ARBITRON announces that independently-owned AC WBEB (B101)/PHILADELPHIA has signed a four-year contract for its PORTABLE PEOPLE METER (PPM) ratings service, beginning JANUARY '07.
WBEB President/Owner JERRY LEE said, "I became a believer in the power of the PORTABLE PEOPLE METER during ARBITRON’s 2002 market trial in PHILADELPHIA. The new PPM ratings system will demonstrate to advertisers that radio stations reach far more listeners than we have gotten credit for with paper and pencil methods. I’m proud to take this step to help lead radio in bringing electronic measurement to the industry on the fastest time frame possible."
"JERRY LEE is one of the most research savvy owners/operators in the business,” said ARBITRON Prsident/Sales & Marketing PIERRE BOUVARD. As Chair of the RADIO ADVERTISING EFFECTIVENESS LABORATORY RESEARCH COMMITTEE and member of the NAB Committee on LOCAL RADIO AUDIENCE MEASUREMENT, he has always put his time and money where his beliefs are. He was among the first in the industry to contribute to the RADIO ADVERTISING EFFECTIVENESS LABORATORY to better promote the medium of radio to advertisers. Today, he is leading again by investing in better measurement for radio with the PORTABLE PEOPLE METER ratings service."
