While most of AMERICA is still throwing away the ripped-up gift wrapping and about to take down the CHRISTMAS lights, tech heads -- especially those of the APPLE ilk -- are salivating over a bevy of APPLE rumors about the next generation of iPADS.
The latest buzz comes from Taiwanese website DIGITIMES, which reports that APPLE will use the annual MACWORLD/iWORLD showcase on JANUARY 26th in SAN FRANCISCO to unveil two new versions of the next generation of iPADS. The company's supply chain partners reports that the new models, to be showcased at the JANUARY 26th affair, will offer iPADS geared to mid-range and high-end market segments.
The existing iPAD 2 will be discounted to compete directly against AMAZON's KINDLE FIRE in the low-cost "entry level" market, the new models will focus on the mid-range and high-end segments respectively, However, DIGITIMES took back its earlier prediction that it will adopt the FIRE's smaller 7.85-inch screen, now claiming the iPAD 3s will still feature 9.7-inch screens but come with QXGA resolution (1,536x2,048 pixels). Dual-LED light bars are designed for the new iPADS to strengthen the brightness of the panels.
The other major improvements will be better cameras and a much better battery.
While the new details make the rumors sound more legit, other sources are still hesitant to second that notion. CBS NEWS and other cite the now-discounted rumor of the smaller screen, as well as the fact that APPLE hasn't presented anything new at iWORLD confab in three years. BUSINESS INSIDER questioned how parts suppliers would know when APPLE would unveil its finished products. It would be far more likely that the new iPADS will be unveiled sometime in the second quarter, although other rumors peg the debut in FEBRUARY.
