FEDERATED MEDIA Classic Rock WFWI (92.3 THE FORT)/FT. WAYNE afternooner BILLY ELVIS ran into trouble with the police last SUNDAY (1/1). THE JOURNAL GAZETTE reports "FORT WAYNE police arrested CHRISTOPHER DURKEE -- known by most as BILLY ELVIS of 92.3 THE FORT and an emcee for the FORT WAYNE KOMETS -- on suspicion of drunken driving and marijuana possession after an officer pulled him over for failing to signal a lane change at about 2a."
The report notes DURKEE did not immediately stop for the police, but "continued on until he pulled into the parking lot of the ATHENIAN RESTAURANT in the 1000 block of COLISEUM BOULEVARD WEST. As the officer approached the car, DURKEE spoke to the officer, 'Come on, I’m BILLY ELVIS.' Once taken into custody, DURKEE laughed and asked the officer if he was serious. DURKEE wanted the officer to call Police Chief RUSTY YORK to the scene, which the officer refused to do, according to the report."
