COX MEDIA GROUP Top 40/Rhythmic WHTI/RICHMOND has unveiled a "high-energy station makeover" this morning. WHTI is now "HOT 100.9, TODAY'S HOTTEST HITS," playing music from popular artists such as LADY GAGA, KATY PERRY, ENRIQUE IGLESIAS and BRITNEY SPEARS. It will compete directly with heritage CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WRVQ (Q94).
HOT 100.9 PD MELISSA CHASE said, "We asked RICHMOND listeners what they wanted, and they said they want a radio station that plays fewer commercials, more music and less boring talk in the morning. THE NEW HOT 100.9 plays today’s hottest hits."
HOT 100.9 DJs ERIC SEAN (afternoons) and ANGIE (middays) will remain with the station. Announcements about morning drive and evenings will be coming in the near future.
"We are excited to add a Mainstream Top 40 into our cluster," said GM BOB WILLOUGHBY. "This is one of the biggest formats in radio, and it’s a perfect fit for RICHMOND."
