PUBLIC RADIO CAPITAL's silent noncommercial KXOT/TACOMA will return to the air under the management of the UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON's noncommercial KUOW/SEATTLE, reports the SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER's BILL VIRGIN.
KXOT, the former KBTC, was programmed by the UNIVERSITY's other station, noncommercial AAA KEXP/SEATTLE, before going silent in JANUARY when KEXP ended the arrangement for budget reasons. KUOW, which has a five year joint venture with PUBLIC RADIO CAPITAL that will have KUOW paying $1 million up front and #1.7 million over five years with buyout and renewal options, will bring KXOT back to life by JULY 1 after a technical upgrade.
