Oklahoma Station Issues Apology For Basketball Announcer's Comments

The PREMIER BASKETBALL LEAGUE has announced a settlement with BROADCO Hot AC KMGZ (MAGIC 95)/LAWTON, OK over announcer CHRIS NEEDHAM's allegations of referee misconduct in calling fouls in the league's championship game last APRIL 18th.  According to a press release from the league, the station made a payment of an undisclosed sum and issued a letter of apology that is required to be posted for a year at the KMGZ website. 

The letter from President/GM CHUCK MORGAN says, "On APRIL 18th, 2011, KMGZ transmitted a live broadcast of the final game of the PREMIER BASKETBALL LEAGUE championship series between the LAWTON FORT SILL CAVALRY and the ROCHESTER RAZORSHARKS in LAWTON, OK.  Throughout that broadcast, a direct employee of the CAVALRY, who was announcing the play-by-play with commentary, made various statements regarding alleged misconduct on the part of officials and the PBL. Since that broadcast, these statements have been brought to the attention of this station, and we regret that such statements were made. None of the statements regarding any of the officials or the PBL itself in any way reflect the views or opinions of this station, nor those of any affiliated business enterprise thereof. In addition, KMGZ has no information that would establish the truth of those statements.
