Texas News Director Accused Of Soliciting Sex With Minor

RHATTAGAN BROADCASTING Talk KBST-A and Country KBST-F (KBEST 95.7)/BIG SPRING, TX News and Weather Director KYLE GUTHRIE has exited the station in the wake of his arrest for soliciting a 16-year-old girl for sex, reports NBC affiliate KWES-TV (NEWSWEST 9)/MIDLAND-ODESSA.
GUTHRIE allegedly "made contact with a minor in a sexually explicit way by using electronic media," HOWARD COUNTY Sheriff STAN PARKER told the TV station. GUTHRIE is being held on $20,000 bond at HOWARD COUNTY jail.
KBST GM MALINDA FLENNIKEN issued a statement on the incident, saying, "The staff of KBST/KBTS was both shocked and saddened upon hearing the news of Mr. GUTHRIE's arrest. We felt that it was in the best interest of the radio stations, our listeners, and the public to release Mr. GUTHRIE of his employment. Further comments will not be made due to the ongoing investigation through the HOWARD COUNTY Sheriff's Office."
