BEASLEY BROADCAST/SOUTHWEST FLORIDA has made changes at two of its stations. Classic Rock WRXK (96 K-ROCK) has flipped to Talk with the slogan "Talk That Rocks," and Alternative WJBX (NEW ROCK 99X) has adjusted to "New and Heritage Rock," with the slogan "SOUTHWEST FLORIDA's Rock Station."
At 96KROCK, BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE's syndicated show remains in mornings, followed by ZITO AND GARRETT 10a-2p (as previously reported by ALL ACCESS (NET NEWS 2/3)) and STAN AND HANEY 2-6p. The syndicated LEX AND TERRY show will air 6-10p, followed by the syndicated NICK AND ARTIE and JOHN AND JEFF shows.
99X is going "music-intensive" in mornings with DC, followed by ROGER MARLEY 10a-2p. KENNEDY moves from midday to afternoons. In addition to lineup changes, WJBX PD CHRIS DELOZIER assumes additional duties as PD of 96 K-ROCK.
"96K-ROCK has always been the home for Classic Rock and entertaining talk in SOUTHWEST FLORIDA," said VP/Market Manager BRAD BEASLEY. "In the early '90s when JOE, STAN and MARK HANEY did mornings, we saw that listener's responded positively. In the late '90s through 2004, HOWARD STERN did mornings, creating a huge following. Over time we have found SOUTHWEST FLORIDA listeners really enjoy entertaining talk, so beginning MONDAY that's what 96K-ROCK will provide, and just up the dial, the exclusive home for all rock in SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, 99X."
PD CHRIS DELOZIER said, "96K-ROCK has the personality and attitude that reflects its listeners' mentality. Adding superior local talent (ZITO and GARRETT) and national talents (LEX & TERRY, NICK & ARTIE, JOHN & JEFF) to BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE mornings and STAN & HANEY afternoons, will ensure 96K-ROCKS #1 placement on SOUTHWEST FLORIDA's radio dials. All attitude, all the time. 96K-ROCK, talk that rocks."
