The Band Perry Plays First Show On The New Ryman Auditorium Stage

The RYMAN AUDITORIUM in DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE had its 61-year-old stage replaced earlier this month and REPUBLIC NASHVILLE trio THE BAND PERRY played the first performance on the new stage last night (2/20).

RYMAN GM SALLY WILLIAMS told THE TENNESSEAN before the show, “It’s so fitting for tonight. Like THE BAND PERRY, it’s what the RYMAN AUDITORIUM is all about, embracing the rich heritage and staying current with today’s music.”

Workers began removing planks from the old stage on FEBRUARY 4th and spent the next 12 days completing the tear-out and installation of the new BRAZILIAN teak stage, which could last 100 years or more. After the oak from the original stage was removed and cleaned a strip of it was incorporated into the edge of the new stage.

“It’s so beautiful — we couldn’t be happier,” WILIIAMS said. “There’s a really good color change from the oak to the BRAZILIAN teak, and it’s amazing how different it sounds to walk across it. The teak and the sub floor are so strong, and there are no creaks.”
