Condolences to family and friends of former CONNECTICUT broadcaster GARY GIRARD, who died WEDNESDAY (2/22) of complications of cancer in FLORIDA at 68, according to the HARTFORD COURANT.
GIRARD was a personality, mostly in overnights, at WPOP-A/HARTFORD for 20 years, and later moved into sales at crosstown WHCT-TV. GM at WNLC-A and WTYD/NEW LONDON and Eastern Regional Manager of the NAB in WASHINGTON. Subsequently, he put WKCD/LEDYARD, CT (now RED WOLF Top 40/Rhythmic WWRX (JAMMIN 107.7)) on the air in 1995 before a 1998 stroke led to a sale of the station and retirement.
