The violent storms and tornadoes that swept across several states on FRIDAY served as a test for outsourced local news and information service VIRTUAL NEWS CENTER, and the company reports that it was able to serve seven clients in the affected area with live and immediate coverage of the devastating weather situation.
VNC's SCOTT ROBERTS issued an alert early FRIDAY to anchors and reporters for the seven markets, including four in the highest risk zone and three others just outside of it. The seven stations received constant monitoring and up-to-the-minute reports throughout the day, including one incident that had ROBERTS relaying information about debris on the ground in HUNTSVILLE, AL that resulted in spotter confirmation of a tornado on the ground in nearby LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL.
Also provided to clients were audio from emergency officials and aid to undermanned local newsrooms.
