Former CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WPTI (RUSH RADIO 94.5)/GREENSBORO-WINSTON SALEM morning host BILL FLYNN has filed his paperwork to run for Congress in the 6th Congressional District of NORTH CAROLINA.
FLYNN, who hosted mornings at WPTI sister AC WMAG for 26 years before moving to WPTI in 2009, got his paperwork in on FEBRUARY 28th; he is facing GUILFORD COUNTY Commissioner BILLY YOW and incumbent Rep. HOWARD COBLE in the primary race to take on Democrat and former State Senator TONY FORIEST in NOVEMBER.
YOW has contended, according to the GREENSBORO NEWS & RECORD, that FLYNN is not a "legitimate candidate" because he owns property in the redrawn 6th District but does not live there; FLYNN campaign manager RICHARD WATKINS responded that the Constitution allows anyone to run and that FLYNN has a deep connection to the district through his radio work.
