TNS MEDIA INTELLIGENCE reports that first quarter ad spending on radio fell year-to-year in local, national, and network categories while overall ad spending on all media rose 5.2%.
Local radio dropped from $1,599,200,000. to $1,581,000,000., a 1.1% decline, with national spot radio off 0.2% to $538.2 million and network radio off 3.5% to $216.9 million. Auto spending was off but the top three categories -- telecom, financial services, and local services and amusements -- all rose by double-figure percentages.
