ABC Talk KABC-A/LOS ANGELES reporter SANDY WELLS was attacked after attempting to interview the principal at a controversial "separatist" school THURSDAY.
WELLS was leaving ACADEMIA SEMILLAS DEL PUEBLO, a charter school under criticism for allegedly teaching "Chicano separatism" which has been the subject of several KABC reports and discussion on SEAN HANNITY's syndicated show on KABC, when a car jumped the curb and tried to run WELLS down. The driver, a man described as in his 20s, then tackled WELLS and took his tape reporter.
The attacker has not been found; a candidate for LOS ANGELES COUNTY Supervisor, DAVE HERNANDEZ, has called on LAPD Chief WILLIAM BRATTON and City Attorney ROCKY DELAGADILLO to investigate the attack.
