SIERRA H Top40/Rhythmic KNRJ (THE BEAT 101.1)/PHOENIX has upgraded its coverage in PHOENIX with a city of license change to CORDES LAKES, AZ and a move of the station's transmitter. SIERRA H had been working on improving their coverage in the PHOENIX metro for a number of years. The station also upgraded its transmitter equipment in the move.
In a press release, SIERRA H GM MICHAEL MALLACE said, "For years the number-one comment we would get from our listeners was that they love THE BEAT but have had difficulty hearing us. We have addressed that concern with this upgrade. We have invested a tremendous amount of time and financial resources into this project and are thrilled with the results."
KNRJ PD FRED RICO added, "The upgrade to KNRJ isn’t just an improvement to the radio station but it’s fulfilling a need to this area of ARIZONA. People are passionate about real Hip-Hop and we’re giving them the best from the '80s, '90s and today."
