COX MEDIA GROUP/SAN ANTONIO VP/Programming and Classic Rock KISS PD VIRGIL THOMPSON has announced his departure from the company after over 20 years with the company. In an e-mail to the staff, he announced that he will spent the next few weeks assisting in "the transition of operations."

"After that I will be visiting my sister in GEORGIA and attending a race honoring her contributions of the formation of a SUSAN G. KOMEN Chapter in SAVANNAH and celebrating her 10 years of cancer survivorship.  I'm then going to take several months off ...  Like most of us in radio, the last 32 years of my career hasn't felt like "work", so we are the lucky ones.
