Condolences to family and friends of longtime Sports-Urban Inspiration WOOF-A-W261AT and AC WOOF-F/DOTHAN, AL owner AGNES WESTERVELT DOWLING SIMPSON, who died MONDAY at her home in DOTHAN at 88, reports the DOTHAN EAGLE.

SIMPSON and her husband R.A. DOWLING founded WOOF in 1947; DOWLING's passing in the '50s left SIMPSON to run the station herself.  She won "ALABAMA Broadcaster of the Year" from the ALABAMA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION in 1987 and was active in management of the station until falling ill about a year and a half ago.
