MERLIN News WEMP (FM NEWS 101.9)/NEW YORK has named veteran LOS ANGELES News Dir. MARK AUSTIN THOMAS as VP/News Dir.  

THOMAS, who served as ND and anchor at KABC-A and KFI-A/LOS ANGELES and KSOL/SAN FRANCISCO, as PD at KLAC-A/LOS ANGELES, and as an anchor and host at stations like KNX-A and KPCC/LOS ANGELES and on public radio's "MARKETPLACE MORNING REPORT," reached agreement on the new position on MONDAY.

THOMAS said, "I'm very excited both about this opportunity to lead a great staff and the chance to work with RANDY MICHAELS and the entire management team with MERLIN."
