Former CBS Talk KIFR (106.9 FREE FM)/SAN FRANCISCO host JOHN LONDON and sidekicks DENNIS CRUZ and CHRIS TOWNSEND are suing the station, CBS RADIO, and CBS syndicated host PENN JILLETTE for wrongful termination. The suit in SAN FRANCISCO Superior Court seeks damages for breach of contract, wrongful termination, interference with a business contract and other actions.
LONDON, CRUZ, and TOWNSEND were fired after an APRIL 7 broadcast in which LONDON, objecting to comments by JILLETTE on the latter's show that criticized MOTHER TERESA for having a "weird kink that I think was sexual about seeing people suffer and die," faceitiously offered $5,000. for someone to kill JILLETTE. LONDON's sarcastic comments led to the station firing the trio; they allege that JILLETTE went to CBS President JOEL HOLLANDER to demand LONDON's ousting, and that HOLLANDER complied.
