CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KKSF-A (NEWSTALK 910)/SAN FRANCISCO has officially named former crosstown CUMULUS Talk KGO-A host GIL GROSS as host from 4-7p (PT) weekdays, starting TODAY (5/9). In addition, JOHN ROTHMANN, another ex-KGO personality, is joining the station as political analyst.
GROSS, the veteran talker and newsman who was with KGO from 2007 through late last year when KGO jettisoned most of its weekday talk shows and went to a mostly all-News format, is stepping in to handle the slot that originally was to be hosted by his KGO co-worker GENE BURNS before BURNS fell ill with a stroke. On his FACEBOOK page, GROSS noted that "GENE was and is a part of this and when he is able, and I'm hoping that is very soon, he'll still be a part of KKSF."
"I'm thrilled to have GIL GROSS aboard full-time for the BAY's only live and local afternoon-drive Talk shows. With his extensive background in network news, everyone in News/Talk radio knows the name GIL GROSS. I couldn't be happier to have KKSF be his new home," said Dir./Operations DON PARKER. "NEWSTALK 910 has been very fortunate to have the highest caliber of talent filling in for GENE BURNS since JANUARY. I'd like to thank JOHN ROTHMANN, ED BAXTER and ROSIE ALLEN for their contributions and for continuing to play a role on NEWSTALK 910 moving forward."
