New Jersey Public Radio Strikes Newsroom Deal With Montclair State University

NEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO's NEW JERSEY PUBLIC RADIO network of four stations in NORTH and CENTRAL JERSEY acquired from the former state-owned NEW JERSEY NETWORK has inked a partnership with MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY to make the school the headquarters for the radio stations' newsroom.  The arrangement, which will also provide news for the organization's noncommercial News-Talk WNYC-A-F/NEW YORK, is being funded in part by the GERALDINE DODGE FOUNDATION and follows a similar arrangement by which NJTV, the entity created to take over the state's four TV stations from NEW JERSEY NETWORK, located its newsroom on campus.

"When NEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO launched NJPR last year, we vowed to extend the reach of our already significant news coverage of NEW JERSEY," said NYPR Pres./CEO LAURA WALKER. "We are delighted to expand our presence in the state through this exciting partnership with MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY. The NJPR News bureau will better equip us to produce the kind of in-depth news and public affairs journalism WNYC is already known for among New Jerseyans."
