FCC Renews Licenses But Fines Several Stations For Late Filing, Public File Trouble

The FCC has renewed the licenses of WMEL-A/MELBOURNE, FL and KRSN-A/LOS ALAMOS, NM despite filing their renewal applications late, but issued notices of apparent liability for fines of $1,500. each for the late filing.
Also granted renewals but fined for late filing is BEST MEDIA, INC., which was issued notices for fines of $7,000. each for late filings for FM translators at BARKER, TX, HAMTRAMCK, MI, and UNIVERSITY PARK, IL. Noncommercial KDPS/DES MOINES got a renewal and notice of fine of $7,000. for a late filing, and KVTO-A/BERKELEY got a renewal and $10,000. fine for public file violations (missing quarterly issues/programs lists). Finally, WKPE/ORLEANS, MA got a rnewal and $4,000. fine for public file violations.
