After months of searching, CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WKSC (103.5 KISS-FM)/CHICAGO has tapped former DMX VP/Music Entertainment RICK GILLETTE as its new PD, beginning MONDAY (6/19).
CLEAR CHANNEL RVPP/CHICAGO Trading Zone DARREN DAVIS told ALL ACCESS, "We're thrilled to have RICK coming aboard. He's the one to lead us to the next levels of success as RICK is one of the most creative PDs I've ever been around. He and consultant STEVE PERUN will work together during a transition period locally. Once STEVE moves on from CHICAGO, he will continue as our consultant to help continue the process he's begun. We're all very excited about this."
"STEVE PERUN has done a fabulous job refocusing the radio station," commented GILLETTE. "And, RVP/GM EARL JONES and DARREN DAVIS are both fierce competitors, and quality human begins, which is a lethal combination, and a management team I felt I had to be associated with.
"This move to 103.5 KISS-FM gives me a chance to rejoin DREX. He and I worked together when he was doing mornings for me at WHYT. He has the ability to be one of the best morning talents in the country. And, TIC TAK is an amazing afternoon drive compliment to the rest of stellar lineup, including night star MACK and midday diva NIKKI, and SMASH has some of the best ears in the business. The station already sounds great and we're just going to kick it up a number of notches and win."
GILLETTE's programming background includes WHYT and WKQI/DETROIT, and KSFM/SACRAMENTO. He replaces ROD PHILLIPS who left back in MARCH following a five year run as WKSC's PD. PERUN, who took over when PHILLIPS departed, will soon return his fulltime focus on his consultancy, which includes many major market stations.
