A group of local buyers, including former CLEAR CHANNEL Country KVET-F/AUSTIN morning host BOB COLE, his former producer and KVET afternoon host ERIC RAINES, and attorney JASON NASSOUR, is purchasing KOKE-F/THORNDALE, TX from DICK OPPENHEIMER's REO RADIO GROUP, LLC for an undisclosed price and is flipping the station to "TEXAS-centric Country music," according to the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN.
The station, which rimshots the AUSTIN market and carries heritage call letters for that market, will simulcast on FM translator K253AN/SUNSET VALLEY-AUSTIN to cover the central part of the market. KOKE-F's present Religion "THE WORD" format is going to sister KFON-A/AUSTIN, which has been programming a Spanish Religion format since REO acquired it in MARCH 2010; the FM format began airing on the AM station last week.
COLE left KVET in DECEMBER after 20 years with the station. His group will begin programming the new KOKE-F under an LMA beginning SUNDAY (7/8).
