AEROSMITH singer STEVEN TYLER will not return to be a judge on season 12 of "American Idol," MSNBC reports. TYLER, who joined the show two seasons ago, announced his intentions in a prepared statement.
"After some long ... hard ... thoughts ... I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit," TYLER wrote. "I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back -- but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band."
The news comes on the same day that fellow "AI" judge JENNIFER LOPEZ admitted on the TODAY show that she wasn't sure she'd be back for another season either. "You know, I signed on to ‘American Idol' to do one year, and ... I wound up doing the two years," she said. "And now it’s like, 'OK, do we continue on this journey?' "
To top it all off, original judge RANDY JACKSON has yet to confirm that he will be back again next season. According to E! ONLINE, "AI" producers are considering season former "AI" runner-up ADAM LAMBERT, MILEY CYRUS, NICKI MINAJ, FERGIE, KATY PERRY and "Idol" mentor WILL.I.AM as potential judges.
