Legendary MOTOWN and FUNK BROTHER bassist BOB BABBITT died MONDAY morning in a NASHVILLE hospice, THE DETROIT NEWS reported. He had been battling brain cancer for some time.
BABBITT's bass work was heard on the classic hits such as GLADYS KNIGHT's "Midnight Train to Georgia," FUNKADELIC's "I Just Wanna Testify," THE CAPITOLS' "Cool Jerk," THE SPINNERS' "Rubberband Man," STEVIE WONDER's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," THE TEMPTATIONS' "Ball of Confusion," MARVIN GAYE's "Inner City Blues" and EDWIN STARR's "War."
BABBITT is survived by his wife ANN, his son and two daughters.
