Some conservative talk show hosts are coming to the aid of the CHICK-FIL-A fast food chain, supporting the business' free speech rights in the wake of the controversy arising from statements by the company's Pres./COO DAN CATHY declaring its support for traditional marriage (and, by extension, opposition to gay marriage).
Among those declaring support for CHICK-FIL-A were SALEM Talk WNYM-A (AM 970 THE ANSWER)/NEW YORK's CURTIS SLIWA and syndicated host and WNYM weekender KEVIN MCCULLOUGH, who came out to the PARAMUS, NJ CHICK-FIL-A location along with SALEM VP/Dir. Spoken Word Formats PHIL BOYCE, WNYM PD PETER THIELE, and 200 listeners who lined up for lunch.
SALEM's Talk WHK-A and Contemporary Christian WFHM (95.5 THE FISH)/CLEVELAND GM MARK JAYCOX also went to a CHICK-FIL-A outlet with his team to rally support for the chain.
And GENESIS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK syndicated host ROB REDDING has offered the ATLANTA-based chicken chain a week of free advertising on his show as a gesture of support for the company's right to its opinion. "CHICK-FIL-A Pres. DAN CATHY is entitled to his opinion," said REDDING. "All Christians need to stand up for what they believe."
